Hosted by Hitit University and organized in cooperation with the Çorum Governorship, Çorum Municipality, and the Alaca Education Foundation, the 3rd International Symposium on the Tradition of Wisdom from Turkestan to Anatolia: Hüseyin Gazi was successfully held.
In her opening speech at the Ethem Erkoç Conference Hall, Deputy Governor Yeliz Mercan emphasized that Anatolia has long been a land of kindness, compassion, knowledge, wisdom, and mercy. She noted that spiritual figures such as Hüseyin Gazi, who came from Turkestan, played a key role in shaping these values and highlighted the continued relevance of their teachings in today’s world.
Rector of Hitit University, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk, stated that Hüseyin Gazi would be examined from multiple perspectives within the scope of the symposium. He also noted that scholars from a wide geographical area—from Khorasan to the Balkans—participated, with 50 contributors from 29 institutions across 7 countries.
Referring to the Hüseyin Gazi Complex in Alaca, Öztürk underlined its significance as a cultural heritage site and expressed that insights gained from the symposium would contribute to its restoration and future presentation as an accessible and meaningful site for younger generations.
Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Işık, pointed out ongoing regional conflicts and noted that three scholars were unable to attend due to security concerns. He emphasized that the symposium aims to examine the historical development of Hüseyin Gazi and the Alaca Hüseyin Gazi Settlement through archival research, field studies, and an interdisciplinary approach. He further highlighted goals such as contributing to restoration efforts, promoting cultural heritage, raising awareness in academic and cultural circles, strengthening unity and solidarity, and supporting the promotion of Çorum and faith tourism.
A message from Avni Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Sinpaş Holding, who contributed to the symposium but could not attend, was read by Bahattin Işık, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Alaca Education Foundation. In his message, Çelik expressed his best wishes for the success of the symposium.
